Pr. Claude Perera i-a binecuvântat pe cei prezenți cu statuia Sfintei Fecioare Maria, împodobită cu ghirlande tradiționale – flori albe, galbene, roz și mov – conform tradițiilor specifice Sri Lankăi.

October 18 and 19 marked two important events for the Sri Lankan community in Romania. On October 18, the first ever Sinhalese wedding liturgy was celebrated in the country, and on October 19, the community gathered for a celebration dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Rashmi and Shanika made their vows before God in a Holy Mass celebrated in Sinhala, offering the community a moment of deep connection with their spiritual roots. For Sri Lankan Catholics living in Romania, this first wedding liturgy in their mother tongue was an important milestone, showing that they can celebrate the most significant moments of their lives in their mother tongue, even far from their homeland.

The next day, on October 19, the community gathered for a liturgy dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the month of October, the month of the Rosary. Fr. Claude Perera blessed those present with a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, adorned with traditional garlands of white, yellow, pink, and purple flowers, in accordance with Sri Lankan traditions.
