In April, the Sri Lankan Catholic community in Bucharest experienced two moments of profound spiritual significance: the celebration of the Solemnity of the Resurrection of the Lord and the administration of the first Sacrament of Baptism within the community, both held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral.

On Sunday, 5 April, the Sri Lankan community celebrated the Feast of the Resurrection through a Festive Holy Mass, organised under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Claude Perera, TOR, and conducted by the invited guest priest, Rev. Fr. Lakshman Tisera, TOR. More than 150 Sri Lankan Catholic faithful took part in this occasion of paschal prayer and joy.

Two weeks later, on Sunday, 19 April, the community lived another moment of particular significance: the first Sacrament of Baptism administered within the Sri Lankan community in Bucharest. The Holy Mass, celebrated in Sinhala, was presided over by Rev. Fr. Claude Perera, TOR, in charge of the Sri Lankan Catholic community, and was attended by a large number of community members. This baptism marks a first for the Sri Lankan community in the capital city of Romania.

The Sri Lankan Catholic community extends its deepest respect and gratitude to His Grace Aurel Percă, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest, as well as to the parish priests, for providing all the necessary support and facilities to ensure the success of these celebrations.
